A New Town, A New Beginning.

So the Jacobs have moved to Texas!

It was a ride from hell to get here though. Between a failed service call to a stomach virus that causes us to be down for a few days, to a moving truck that refuses to go over 50 mph and a blown tire, it was one horrendous trip. BUT we made it and found a place to live. I am ready to be done with this move. Did I tell you how much I hate moving?  Lol. We are going from a house down to a townhouse apartment. Now you don't realize how much stuff you have until you have to put it into an apartment. I mean seriously who doesn't have a dining room?  So we put our dining room table on the balcony!
You have to make due right?  It helps that the nights are absolutely gorgeous here. It drops to about 50 degrees here so far at night. So when the house started getting a little stuffy we opened a window upstairs and downstairs to catch a cross breeze.

Back to the trip...so we headed out on Sunday, March 8th. Hubby had a service call in Pensacola so knowing extra money would help we headed there first.

After stopping in Tallehasse that night, I realized that this was going to be a VERY long haul. We all got up well rested the next morning a grabbed a bite to eat.

We got back on the road and the closer we got to Pensacola the nastier the weather got.
I've been to Tallehasse before but I have never been to Pensacola until now and all I can say is that I wasn't impressed at all. So we killed time while Tony did his service call. Have you ever spent a lengthy amount of time in a hotel room with a 10 year old, a 3 year old and a 5 month old?  Well I wouldn't recommend it. Lol.

After the impromptu concert from my resident performer, Tony came back and we took the kids to Chuckie Cheese.
We will never go to this Chuckie Cheese ever again. Half of the machines didn't work and took the coins and afterwards we all got a very nasty stomach bug.
She started feeling sick almost immediately after we left and needless to say she ended up in our bed that night. A king size bed does get a lil cramped with us and 2 monkeys in it.
The next morning monkey started feeling worse and got sick before we even got back on the road. So we improvised.
Getting out of Florida took forever but once we hit Alabama, we went through the Gulf States pretty fast.
Oh! I also learned that there's another way to spell Automated!
After a few days on the road, things like this make you chuckle. So yes I found this very funny and worth a photo.
Then BAM! Traffic jam. Oh and the roads in Florida are amazing. You don't realize or appreciate this until you get bounced around on the roads in other states.
After a 2 hour stop for nothing, I also found out why Tony is constantly cursing out other drivers.

We did make it to Texas that night and stopped because Lea wasn't dealing with the car seat anymore. 8 hours was long enough for her.

Let me tell you Texas is huge and when you are driving cross country with a 3 year old, 5 month old and a 10 year old, it makes it seem even longer.

The next day we made it through Houston, Katy, and San Antonio.

We stopped and picked up boots for Dareon, Fiona, and Tony from a small shop named Potters Western Wear. in Columbus, Texas. The gentleman there was awesome and worked with the kids to figure out the right sizes.

After 12 hours of driving we stopped in Boerne, Texas for the night.

If I do say so myself I love a guy in a cowboy hat and boots. So we got back on the road again the next day with the intentions to get to El Paso. We had good intentions but that nasty flu monkey had finally made its way to me. We made it Fort Stocktom that day with only a couple of hours of driving under our belts. But the drive there was beautiful. You could tell we made it to west Texas.

See unlike the northeast mountains you can't create tunnels and drive through these mountains. They are made up of mostly sand and rock. It was amazing to see how they did the mountain passes out west. You see signs saying watch out for falling rocks and then you drive through what they call the foothills. Well being a true Florida girl those were mountains to me. Then we hit the real mountains.
You know you've been in the car too long when your daughter turns into the happy meal burglar. After a minor setback in Fort Hancock with a blown tire, we finally made it to El Paso. Then I got my first glance at Juarez.
It was crazy to see it that close.
After 4 days of being stuck in this cramped hotel room,
we decided on a townhouse apartment. For the price, it was the best decision for us. So we are downsizing and getting use to apartment living, but we are here.
San Elizario is such a nice pretty area. Yeah it's close to the border but it's a nice small town. There are markets everywhere and it's only about 30 minutes east of El Paso city.  It's going to be a long road ahead but as long as we are together we will make it.
